The earth goes round the sun.
Hello.
I found this sentence in my textbook.
What is the different between "The earth goes 'round' the sun." and "The earth goes 'around' the sun."?
Thank you!

Hello Cian, there is no difference in meaning between the two. "'Round" is simply a shortened version of around, probably written that way to reflect how people of a certain time and place commonly said it. Hope that helps!

you need to say "around the sun" to be correct, however people do say "round the sun"
"round" = a shape used in geometry.
"around" = to circle around something either in an orbit, or like a prey animal circling around it's prey to deceive the prey into thinking the predator is not getting closer.
