What is the difference between the sentences above?

sentence 1 and 3 mean the same thing for the most part. sentence 2 the preposition onto doesn't work in this context.

Admitted to:
Used in a context of a physical space (eg. Hospital)
Admitted into:
Used in a context of a society/membership/group
Admitted onto: I believe this is incorrect
