以貌取人,其实是不准确的。 I think this sentence may be more approaching the right answer.

I agree with Ihatov and I feel you. That is really hard to translate a sentence that has the exactly same meaning as an original sentence. I often have a tough time too when I help my friend translate some difficult English sentence to Chinese. So that is pretty normal.

No, I don't think so. I guess what you wanted say something like "Judging a book by its cover is a huge flaw of human cognition." which would be "以貌取人是人类认知的一个重要缺陷。“ I got you. That would be "中文词和他的英文翻译并不能做到完全一致。“ ”A word in Chinese and its corresponding English translation aren't each other's perfect match."
