How do you say "borderlands" in spanish
How would you say "borderlands" in Spanish? I'm talking about "the positive and fruitful space of interaction between several cultures" for an essay. Would "la zona fronteriza" be correct?

Just adding a little bit to what other members have answered, since "fronterizo" is an adjective that means "near the border", you can use it on other nouns other than "zona" if you wish to express yourself a bit differently. For example, you can say:
"ciudad fronteriza" ( or the plural "ciudades fronterizas" )
"tierras fronterizas" ( "tierras" meaning lands )
"territorio fronterizo" ( or the plural "territorios fronterizos")
"región fronteriza" ( or "regiones fronterizas" )
I think this might help you broaden your capabilities of expression in Spanish. Good luck with your essay!

Hi, Madelyn. Literally, "Frontera" is the boundary or dividing point or line that separates two or more countries. "Zona fronteriza" is the area that surrounds or belongs to the border. "Interacción cultural" is the reciprocal action, relationship or influence between two or more cultures. I hope I have been helpful. Saludos.
