What's the difference between FACULTY and DEPARTMENT, say, Psychology Faculty or Department of Psychology?

From the dictionary:
a. the entire teaching and administrative force of a university, college, or school.
b. one of the departments of learning, as theology, medicine, or law, in a university.
c. the teaching body, sometimes with the students, in any of these departments.

There is a big difference
faculty = power
eg : She has good psychology faculty...
Department = section
eg : There is a department of Psychology in this hospital.

Yes, faculty is more of a department of learning (from latin facultas) within a university. There could be in one university faculty of art , engineering faculty etc....
If you say Faculty of psychology or Psychology Faculty then it is a college within the university dedicated mainly to a certain branch of knowledge
( psychology in your example).
A department of psychology will be in a university as well but as a subdivision of learning ,like physics is a department of science ,psychology could be a department of more general branch such as medicine. So it could be possibly presented in the following hierarchy :
The psychology department in the Faculty of medicine in Boston University.
Hence psychology could be taught as a separate branch of knowledge (faculty of psychology ) or as a subdivision of another more general science(department of psychology)
