Are a caterpillar and a centipede the same insects?
I have found that many English teachers use caterpillar instead of centipede, but as I searched them in different dictionaries, they are completely different.

They are completely different. A caterpillar is the first stage of life of a butterfly or moth. It forms a pupa and develops into a butterfly after feeding on leaves. A centipede is an invertebrate with a large number of legs - there are many different species. Centipedes and caterpillars may look alike, but they are not the same at all.
