Why do Scandinavian people click their tongue?
Hey, maybe it’s a stupid question and it won’t make any sense, but I have noticed that some Scandinavian people click tongue just as if it was a bad habit or something like this. When I was in Denmark I’ve heard some people doing this and thought it could probably be some kind of cultural thing. Then I’ve met Swedish couple and they did the same, that’s when I started being confused about it.
Does it mean anything or was it just a coincidence that I’ve heard it that often? :/

Interesting question for a Dane, very iteresting indeed. I don't find it stupid to ask, only not to ask :)
We click our tongue ('slår smæld med tungen') when we want a horse to start moving. The horse knows this command.
I searched the Internet. There is one mother who clicks her tongue, expressing her restlessness. There are children, too, who practice making a very loud sound out of it.
I don't have this habit, but maybe someone else has the habit and wants to tell in which situations they use it :)

I don't think it is something we think about much ourselves. But to the extend that we do it, I think it is at times like a social cue when the conversation goes silent for example. Like drumming your hands on the table or similar.
