For street talking both are used. = To say someone did something or acted in a certain way.
For a formal sentence it should be used like this:
"The man accelerated hard and went off down the road at high speed" - went not goes.
"The man goes to work in his car everyday"
"The man went to work in his car everyday last week" - past

We can say ''She went like'' if we are talking about one occasion but ''She goes like'' for when someone does something on more that one occasion 😊
