What is the difference between dimmi and dirmi?

dimmi = di' a me = tell me (please)
-- "tell me anything" = DIMMI tutto
dirmi = dire a me = about telling me:
-- "I asked him to tell me anything" = Gli ho chiesto di DIRMI tutto
Please note that in "dimmi" the real voice of the verb "dici" becomes di' in the exhortative form and dropping the last syllable causes the apostrophe, which should not be confused with the stress of "dì" which means "morning" (buondì = good morning).

Mallak dimmi di che colore hai gli occhi
Mallak mi ha chiamato il dottore per dirmi che l'appuntamento è stato cancellato.
Dimmi refers to "tu dici a me" dirmi refers to " dire a me" the preposition per needs an infinite hence you say "per dire a me".
If your sentence still makes sense of you put dire ot means that you need a "dirmi" if not it's a dimmi.
Text me if unclear.
