Can I write "from the book named '__' with brackets after I mention the writer's name of a quote Can I write "from the book named '______' with brackets after I mention the writer's name of a quote? ? "Life is not about finding yourself, life is about making yourself." George Bernard Snow (from the book named "one time") Can I write like this ↑? (George did write any book named "one time") 1. I collected this quote from a book named "one time". 2. I collected this quote from the book named "one time". Are these two sentences correct?

Koko ~ Since you know the name of the book, it is no longer "a book." It has a name, making it "the," not "a." "A book" refers to a generic book, unnamed and unknown. Once identified, it becomes "the book." In addition, the word, "titled" is better than the word "named." A book has a title, not a name. So, your most precise, concise and well-constructed sentence is as follows: I collected this quote from the book titled, "One Time."

My instinct is that, in the U.S., "called" is used much more often than "named", especially when referring to works of art.

Yes, both sentences are correct but you need to know how and when use articles (a/an/the)

Both sentences are correct. Apostrophes are appropriate (not brackets.) I grew up with titles needing to be capitalized and underlined. Underlining has gone away, but not the captialization. Good luck.
