I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Irish "folk" music; there's Traditional music, certainly :)

If you ever manage to find some Irish musicians in a pub, you may get to enjoy a "seisún" (music-playing 'session'). These happen often wherever there's an Irish community - my city has a couple every week.
