what is the difference between (kidnap )and (abduct)?

Yes, they are basically synonyms. But I think I would prefer "kidnap" when kids are involved, and "abducted" when aliens are involved. "Abducted" just sounds so extra-terrestrial. If neither kids nor aliens are involved, I could use kidnapped or abducted. If kids were kidnapped by aliens, I would say they were abducted.

They are both very similar:
kidnap: to steal, carry off, or abduct by force or fraud, usually for use as a hostage or to extract ransom
abduct: to carry off or lead away (a person) illegally and in secret or by force, esp. to kidnap

both of them mean to take away someone to an undisclosed location without their will to extract a ransom
