The hurricanes are named with a female name every other time. for example:(and i'm making these up)
Andrew
Bethany
Carl
Denise
Edward
Francine
etc.

Here is the US Federal Emergency Management Administration definition for the naming convention. It generally does alternate between men and women's names.
