Like all the "traditionnal" names, long long time ago, there was certainly special meaning. But nowadays nobody remembers this kind of things, so we french people don't really care about the meaning of names !
Amélie is a quite common name, nothing strange or special about it. If you want I can search the ancient meaning of this name...
