Hello! I would be really grateful if you could explain me the difference between the verbs enquire and inquire.

We tend to use enquire when we ask about things and inquire when we 'look into things'. These are interchangeable to some extent, but inquire is used when there is a formal investigation. This is when we 'look into things' more forcefully, often with legal powers. We say enquire when we are simply asking about something. I.e. 'I enquired' means 'I asked'.

Enquire is to be used for general senses of 'ask' while inquire is reserved for uses meaning 'make a formal investigation.

If there is a difference between the two, I don't think most native speakers know the difference and that includes me. The dictionary definition of each is to seek information by asking a question.
