Some people believe showing people happy images (pictures in which great achievements are made in helping the poor) is more effective in encouraging them to take action to solve poverty than showing them sad images (pictures that let us know how hard life can be for the poor). Do you agree or disagree? Why? There are two ways of encouraging people to devote themselves to philanthropic actions. One is to show how good a world can become because of good deeds. The other is to depict the miserable lives poor people are living. Personally, I believe joyful images work better than gloomy images in terms of inciting beneficence. I feel this way for two main reasons, which I will explore in the following essay. First of all, inspiring pictures present the positive results brought by humans' actions, and that would give more people faith in themselves that they can do something to make a real difference. Many individuals have the intention of helping people in poverty, but they often hesitate to take action because they doubt the effectiveness of their efforts. For instance, I often think my little input might be useless because what can a single person do for so many poor fellows in my country? As a result, I sometimes hold back when I should offer my hand to people in need. If we believe there is something we can do that will really improve even one person's situation, if we can picture the smiling face of a child who we give help, we might be greatly encouraged to act at once. For this reason, I think it is a wonderful idea to motivate people by showing people what they can achieve after hard work on beneficence.(To be continued)
