What's " let me" in this sentence

It means literal " allow me".

Answer

Hi Les Villain!

Good question! You’re absolutely right, “Let me” in the phrase “let me finish this and then we can go” is a way to say “allow me.”

“Let me…” can be used to be polite. It’s similar to when you want to make a polite request and say “Would you mind..?” because it shows consideration of the other person.

I hope this helps! 💫
