I have heard it with either the first or second syllables accented (in Canada). I suspect like a lot words, the British pronunciation is different (first syllable) from the US (second syllable) and in Canada we can't make up our mind so either works.

So basically pick the one you like the most.

Nowadays the stress and syllable breakdown varies a little from place to place and from American and the other English speaking countries. In the UK the stress is in the middle POS and small variations on how much of the P O or S is stressed raised in tone. Not sure about American composite. But there are some older UK speakers who say com -Po - SITE and they really distinctly stress the SITE at the End.
