After nearly two weeks of rain, sunshine finally came back to Shanghai. I seized the opportunity and took a walk near my home this afternoon. I used to consider myself an indoor person, but more recently realized that I’m an introverted person rather than an indoor one. The mythology of introversion includes a preference to stay at home rather than to go out. As an introvert, I do enjoy staying at home to do as I like, but I also enjoy hanging out on my own with no specific aim as well.
People usually think that introverts are afraid of, or even hate, social activities, and that they are not at all at ease in social situations. People around me can hardly believe me when I tell them that I’m introverted because I do get along with others pretty well. Being an introvert doesn’t damage my relationships. It just means that social activities aren’t a must in my daily life and I gain my energy and enjoyment elsewhere: in my time alone.
