Man and Technology Science and technology is developing rapidly in modern times, changing and transforming the whole world in a radical way. It has, on the one hand, made our lives much easier, providing us with all kinds of conveniences, but on the other, also caused us trouble. Many work that had to be done by ourselves is now been carried out by computers. As we become more and more relied on technology, our abiliy to think and act independently is undermined. Letters are supplanted by emails. Conversations are replaced by text messages. Writing with a pen becomes a form of art, and even books are been read on a screen. As said by Sydney J. Harris, "The real danger is not that computers will begin to think like men, but that men will begin to think like computers. Concerns about the decline of men's mental capacities are not unfounded. Despite all the tasks technology can help us to accomplish, it is still necessary for us to sharpen our thinking skills and make full use of our own brains.

My Favorite Book (2) Knowing what happened to his mom, the boy decides to look for her immediately. It is a long and perilous journey. He is duped by an avaricious old woman to work for her voluntarily. He finds a witch in the mountains who knows where his mother is, but almost gets killed by her. After all these hardships and dangers, at last he found the lake where his mother lives in. Mother tells him why she was punished. He is very sad and thinks that the curse was cast only because there was not enough food for the villagers. He decides to break the rock that is blocking the lake, let the water flow out and get the farm lands irrigated. Mother decides to help him. She let him sit on her head and directs her. She rolled her body violently, building up huge waves, crushing against the rocks and hills, and the blocking rock was broken. Suddenly, the dragon scales on her body starts to fall off, and gradually, she resumes her human shape. She stands up from the ground and cries out her son’s name. The boy rushed to his mother, and finally, he gets hold in her mother’s arms. What a wonderful story, sad but full of energy. When I first read it as a child, I was deeply moved. It showed me how great a mother’s love can be, and how precious her love is for a boy that he would do anything he could to get it back. If nothing more, it at least told me what love means, and I felt it. That’s enough. This book is full of stories like this one, varied in plots and styles, but never lacks in passion and imagination to touch me in the heart and inspire me in the mind. Thank you, the ingenious authors who created these stories, with nothing more but a loving and caring heart, and may these stories continue to inspire our children, so they can live happily in this world, with nothing more but a loving and caring heart.

My Favorite Book (1) I haven't read a lot of books, but among those I have read, many have had a great influence on me. They enriched me, they inspired me, and in a way they shaped me. It is hard to pick a favorite one, but if I had to, I would choose a book I read when I was a child. It is a collection of stories written by children's literature writers from around the world. These stories might look naive and childish to some adults, but as a child, they opened my eyes and my mind. Some of them made me laugh, some of them made me cry. Some of them took me to the most bizarre places, and some of them led me to understand the world we live in. For example, there's this Japanese story that I still remember clearly today. It's a story about a little boy who lives in a village with his grandma. The boy sleeps a lot, eats a lot, and is incredibly strong. Kids in the village call him "son of the dragon". His grandma often tells him that his mother passed away after he was born. One night, the boy is missing his mother again, grandma decided to tell him the truth. His mother is not dead. She disappeared mysteriously one day when she was pregnant with the boy. Several day later, the boy was found in a basket floating near the river bank by his grandma, along with him was a pearl like white ball he was sucking on and a note. It turned out his mother disappeared because she was turned into a dragon. When she was pregnant, she was one day left alone in the kitchen to cook for the villagers. Being pregnant and not able to control her appetite, she stole and ate the fish in the kitchen, the only few the villagers had got. She did not know a curse had been put on her. Anyone who steals from the community will be punished and turned into a dragon. Then her baby son was born. She knew she couldn’t feed and look after him anymore, so she put the baby in a basket, set it on the river to float, and then she took her eyes out to let him suck on and give him the nutrition he needs. Not willing to be been seen as a monster, she moved away to the north and never came back.

February 19th The weather is getting warmer everyday. But it is still a bit cold outside. Mild wind started to blow in the evening. Windows are rattling as the wind tries to sneak into the room. Leaves are wavering and making this gentle and familiar sound, setting off the quiteness of this early spring night. Each season has its own personality, but everytime a new season comes, it always evokes the same nostalgic and subtle feelings. So many years have passed before I even notice, and along with them so did the foolish laughter, the childish crying, the transient moments of happiness and the agonising nights of sorrow.

How to use "the same"? I'm the same age as him. I'm at the same age as him. I'm of the same age as him. We are the same age. We are at the same age. We are of the same age. Which one is correct?
