My daughter is at a primary school in Singapore. Her school Chinese teacher often scolded her, and she came to dislike Chinese itself. Anna 老师encouraged her so much and gave her practical study tips, and they practised the oral exam and compositions together. In her composition test, she remembered what Anna 老师 had told her. She is much more positive about Chinese now. I highly recommend this teacher to any child who has lost confidence in Chinese.

In the beginning I trialled a few other teachers but stuck to Catherine because I found her lessons the best. I have been learning with Catherine for 6 months and have found her lessons to be engaging and very helpful. She can vary the lessons according to my needs. Initially I was travelling to China, so we did travel related lessons but now I want to improve my conversational skills, so she further adapted the lesson. She sends notes and homework after each lesson which helps me stay disciplined. I highly recommend Catherine as a tutor. Jiāyóu!

Recently my schedule has been packed and work keeps me extremely busy, yet just thinking about my Chinese lessons fills me with joy! I feel so, so lucky to have found Jianxin, a truly one-of-a-kind Chinese teacher! For someone like me who tends to bury himself in work, learning Chinese has never felt like a task or a burden. On the contrary, it's become my little escape — a quiet, joyful pause in the middle of a hectic life. I honestly believe that only Jianxin could make learning a language feel this light and magical. In class, her boundless energy and wholehearted dedication to teaching have deeply inspired me, and little by little, they've changed the way I think about learning. For me, studying Chinese isn’t a short-term goal — it’s a journey I want to pursue long-term. Every lesson gives me more than language skills; I soak up her passion and energy, leaving class excited for what’s ahead. I have the deepest admiration for Jianxin — she's truly special!

Jan ist der perfekte Lehrer. Immer pünktlich, die Ruhe in Person und er kann gut mit meiner tiefen Frustschwelle umgehen. Der Unterricht ist immer ein guter Mix aus kleinen Dialogen, Besprechung von Fragen und Vokabular, Aussprachetraining, Einheiten aus Lehrmitteln und freien Themen. Sein Deutsch ist wirklich ausserordentlich gut, so kann ich auch mal erklären, was ich eigentlich sagen wollte, wenn ein von mir zusammengebastelter Satz mal unverständlich ist. Meine Syntax ist teilweise an den Haaren herbeigezogen und er checkt trotzdem was ich sagen wollte. Beim Fremdsprachen lernen habe ich eine recht hohe Hemmschwelle einfach zu sprechen und sätze auszuprobieren. Bei Jan habe ich das mittlerweile verloren und kann hemmungslos üben. Ich kann Jan nur wärmstens empfehlen: immer höflich, nett, aufmerksam, kompetent und motivierend. Sein Unterricht strukturiert, lehrreich und interessant.

Zhang laoshi is a very kind and encouraging teacher! I enjoy the cheerful nature of her classes and the way she explains new words with lots of patience. She's receptive to studying any materials of my choosing, we just finished working through a Chinese mythological story I bought, she explained any words or grammar point i didn't understand. It was lots of fun! I especially like her attentiveness in correcting my pronunciation mistakes.

今天我们复习了语法和（词（？））。Today, we reviewed grammar and vocabulary. Yasmine was very patient with me when I had forgotten the pronunciation of some characters. First, she would give me a hint; if I still couldn't remember it, she would tell me the word again and and the meaning. I appreciate her calm and patient way of teaching me, because helps me gain the confidence/motivation to practice, instead of avoiding it due to fear of making mistakes. 谢谢老师。

I've studied with Dan regularly for five years and I recommend him for all levels of learners! It can be difficult to find a reliable teacher on italki, but he has been very reliable for a long time. He provides the structure and the materials. We follow the HSK textbooks and he is very flexible, working at whatever pace suits you, slowing down when something needs more time. He also has deep knowledge of Chinese culture and history, which really helps put things into context and is always fun to learn about. So much of what I know about China comes from Dan. He is well-prepared and very experienced.

Was an absolute pleasure to start with Eva today. She quickly adapted to my level with incredible precision, and was happy to let my ADHD-topic-hopping brain run free at times while also keeping us on task. Learned lots of new words but most importantly: she has excellent control of how fast she speaks (I prefer practicing with fast speech for the challenge of hanging on for dear life as meaning flies by and I try to catch it as this is how real life happens) while also tailoring word choice and grammatical styling. She also came very prepared even for the first lesson!
