These types of shows were named after cleaning product commercials which originally sponsored them. They deal with typical daily events in the lives of a group of characters. EG. These are the Days of our Lives. 

A type of TV genre where contestants participate in some challenges to win cash or some other types of prizes. EG: Wheel of Fortune.

This type of show documents supposedly unscripted real-life situations starring unknown individuals rather than professional actors. It shows what they do or how they react in strange or challenging situations. EG: Survivor.

A light-hearted genre that generally features characters (usually a group of friends, co-workers or families) having to deal with odd or uncomfortable situations. These are usually filmed on static sets. EG: Friends

A non-fiction show (that usually has commentary) about real-life historical events, anthropology, zoology etc. EG: National Geographic.

A show with one continuous theme that often centres around mystery, the supernatural and dystopian fiction. EG: Star Wars

These types of shows are based on the back-and-forth discussions between a show host and various invited guests and/or the audience members. EG: The Ellen DeGeneres show 

These shows revolve around hospitals, emergency rooms, students, doctors and other nursing staff. It tells the stories of how these institutions and people help and care for those involved in accidents and other health issues. EG: Chicago Med

This genre of TV shows seeks to elicit fear and disgust in its viewers for entertainment purposes. These shows often explore dark subject matter and may deal with transgressive topics and themes. EG: The Walking Dead 

This genre of TV show features hand-drawn and computer-generated characters that usually have disproportionately large eyes and small mouths. EG: Dragon Ball
