My name is Maris. I've been a language teacher for more than 7 years now. And as a language learner myself, I know how challenging it is to pick up a new language, especially a language that isn't in the same family as your mother tongue.
I graduated with a French degree, but I have never been to any of the French-speaking countries. I live in Thailand, but I am surrounded by foreigners most of the time because of my lifestyle and my work.
A few things about me: fun-loving, touch rugby player, book lover, dinosaur enthusiast, and very outdoorsy.
Other than being a teacher, I used to work in film, modelling, real-estate, and bartending :) I also have a run club!Moi en tant que professeur
I am calm and fun! I tend to speak really slowly when teaching, so my students can keep up with me and won't be discouraged. I love asking questions to make sure that my students are on the same page as me.

No matter what we are focusing on, I will always try to converse with you a lot. With this method, you will constantly be engaged in your listening and speaking skills. When it comes to vocabularies or phrases, I'll teach you when or in which scenario we use them with what kind of feeling of the situation. We will try to use a translating application as our last resort.
Back in college, because of my degree, I had to take a few courses in phonetics. This has blessed me with the knowledge of 'articulators'. I can guide you to having a really good pronunciation if you request it.

Every meeting with Maris goes well. He is a solid tutor who adapts to my questions or the topics I want to discuss while also always keeping us on track. His explanations are clear and he does a great job at tying things back to how conversations are handled in real life in Thailand, not just the “textbook” information. Excellent teacher. Maris is an experienced teacher and gave me some great guidance on how to produce the Thai tones. Our Survival Thai lesson today was mostly about time-telling - pretty comples but he explained things clearly and I feel like I got it!
