Hello, my name is Tony. I live in the United Kingdom. I have a First-Class Bachelors Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Ethics and have spent much of my professional life as a writer. I try to keep my working life new and engaging and have had various occupations from construction to writing. In recent years, I have lived in many different places and have constantly been adapting my life to new opportunities, places and projects. My hobbies include music, reading, playing video games and keeping fit.

Moi en tant que professeur

I teach adults and children. I have taught a wide variety of students from across the world and help both native and none-native speakers to improve their English skills. I see myself more as a coach or a guide than a teacher. I can "teach" when it is necessary and explain things like new vocabulary and grammar very clearly, but my priority is to help the student learn and practice the language inside and outside of the classroom. After all, language is not knowledge, it is a skill; we do not "learn" a language, we train it. And so, my goal is to help each and every one of my students to improve, train and develop their language skills to suit their particular needs.

Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement

My lessons can be personalised for each and every student. If you tell me what your particular needs are, I can find a way to help you reach your goals. Some students have needed help with their writing, others with their reading comprehension. Some of my students have wanted to do role-play for particular tasks and many of them have just wanted to have conversations. My style is a mixture of professional and casual. I always try to treat my students and our work with professionalism and dignity, but at the same time, my students know that I am a friendly person who is easy to talk to. I would like to emphasize the erudition of the teacher, which helps turn the lesson into a dialogue on a topic that is interesting to the student. I also like that Tony tailors the lessons to the student's needs and changes the teaching method to find one that suits the student better.

The best English teacher I have ever met! I have explored the English world with him for about one year. He gives me a lot of fabulous ideas about how to study English culture and literature. Some of his suggestions are even very useful in dealing with problems I meet in daily life. Tony is a patient, efficient and considerate teacher. In this lesson, he guided me through the process of improving and rewriting a personal statement for graduate school application. I have learned how to tell my story in a more engaging way, an important skill not only in school but also in the workplace.
