Nozomi

Words cannot explain how much I love learning with Nozomi-san. She transformed learning Japanese from a simple interest into something I eagerly look forward to every morning. She is always friendly, easy to talk to and makes you feel very comfortable no matter where in your Japanese learning journey you are. Anytime I have had doubts about how I am progressing, she helps me see that I am getting better little by little. She is quick to adjust to any needs or questions that may arise and we always share a laugh and some fun conversations. Her knowledge is very apparent, and the way she explains concepts is easy to follow and well structured. In my opinion, if you are looking for the best Japanese teacher on italki, you have found her here with Nozomi-san!

Initially I was looking for a teacher in italki to support my Japanese self-study. I had trial lessons with several teachers, but personally Nozomi Sensei suited my learning style the most. I have had 4 sessions so far, so I feel I could provide a more unbiased review. One major point I like about her teaching is how she corrects my speaking and sentence examples respectfully and kindly, with no judgement. Her explanation is easy to understand and whenever I feel confused about some grammar points, she patiently repeats her explanation until I understand. She also likes to go the extra mile at her explanations whenever there are important grammars or vocabularies related to my questions. And lastly, she is a very flexible teacher for a self-taught Japanese learner like me. I've done over 100 lessons with Nozomi and can't recommend her enough! Finding a teacher who balances being professional yet engaging for one-on-one lessons is tricky, not too stiff, not too casual. Nozomi does this perfectly! She listens and remembers what you're saying and often refers back to previous conversations with questions that test your understanding of the grammar you're currently practicing. It throws me off every time but it's such good practice. It's easy to pick the correct grammar point in a textbook, but when you have to come up with an answer on the spot from your own perspective it gets so much more difficult. And in the end I think that's what most people using italki want to achieve, to be able to understand and practice spoken language, not just study from a book. Nozomi is great at helping you get there, with admirable patience I might add! 😅 本当にありがとうございます！これからもよろしくお願いします！

As most of you will agree, learning a new language is a bumpy road. Particularly for self-study. However, thanks to Nozomi's lessons, I feel back on track to make progress. Despite the many mistakes I make, she is very patient and kind as she explains useful vocabulary and grammar to me. In addition to the lessons from the Genki textbook, there is plenty of room for real conversations that are normally difficult to practice in self-study. I feel strengthened to continue studying Japanese. Thank you, Nozomi sensei!

I've had lessons with Nozomi-sensei for a few weeks now and it's been great - the lessons have a lot of discussions, both casual (talking about life) and in depth (discussing grammar points). I wanted to study grammar so the classes are structured around grammar points which are more difficult and Nozomi-sensei provides homework to review the things that I personally struggled on. On top of that, she is patient and always cheerful, which makes the class fun and interesting!
