Lavi is a great teacher! She tailored the lesson structure for my goal, which is to become fluent in everyday Indonesian (including slang), so that I can actively participate in everyday conversations. 1. During the lessons, we speak without interruption, which helps to build my self-confidence. 2. We don't stop to fix mistakes/make improvements live, but instead look back at them at the beginning of the next lesson. 3. Ahead of each lesson, Lavi shares a topic and related material (videos/podcasts) I can use to prepare for our "debate" on the topic, while practicing my listening. This structure suits me perfectly as it allows me to practice listening and speaking, and gives me flexibility on how much time I study between lessons. After a few dozen lessons, I'm able to follow most real-life conversations! The next step is to speed up my speaking, which I'm very confident I'll achieve, thanks to Lavi!

I have had MANY classes with Lavi in both beginning Sundanese and more advanced Indonesian. She is the best language teacher I have ever had for two reasons: 1. She is very good at speaking at just the right level. It's never so easy that I feel like I'm not learning, but never too difficult that I feel totally lost. 2. She takes lots of notes during the class that I can review later. Very convenient for studying on my own in between classes!
