Hi! My name is Ashley, and I teach English on italki. I am originally from a rural town in New York State, and I currently live in New York City. I also lived in Chicago, Illinois during university, which is in the middle of the United States. There, I studied political science and economics, and I took a lot of language classes. I have taken ten years of Spanish, one year of Arabic, and a semester of French. I love learning languages because it helps me learn about a ton of different cultures around the world, and it allows me to speak to people in their local languages while traveling. Also, it allows me to appreciate music and movies from different countries.

Today I had another conversation class with Ashley and we talked mostly about ENNEAGRAM, a topic that I love talking about. We begun talking about the number one or THE ONES. They are THE REFORMER. ONES are conscientious and ethical with a strong sense of right and wrong. They are teachers, crusaders, advogares for change: always striving to improve things, but afraid of making a mistake. Well-organized, orderly, they try to mantain high standards, but can slip into being critical and perfectionist. They typically have problems with resentment and impatience. At their best: wise, discerning, realistic, and noble. Can be morally heroic.

Today i had another amazing spoken class with Ashley and we talked about several topics, such as super bowl event, practicing sports, enneagram, etc. I don’t understand the rules of amarican football and it is boring to watch the games, but watching the super bowl really pays of, because the half time show, the vibe, the environment of the event. Besides that, it is important to keep in contact with English, with the american culture, when we can learn new words and memorize many expressions, phrasal verbs and words we already know. Another great thing is that the event will be happening in California, wich the time is perfect to be watched from Brazil. So, I Will Watch the super bowl and i am sure I will take advantage of many things by doing that. So, Ashley, once more, thank you so much for giving up of part of your Sunday to teach me English. 🙏

Today I had another amazing conversation class with Ashley and we talked about many topics, such as food, recipes, the weather, but mainly about the time that i lived in a farm. I learned several new words , expressions and phrasal verbs. I lived in that farm until i was fifteen years old. My life was really hard, i had to wake up at 5 am, go to field, gether the cows so that my father could milk them. I used to eat a great meal, drink a big mug of milk and go to school, wich was five miles a way from the farm. When going back from the school I had to carry all those things we didn’t have in the farm, such as sugar, salt, kerosene, etc. We didn’t have power, fridge, tv, and good things we have today, the life was humble, but we we’re free, eating healthy and natural food, without violence.
