I recommend Umuhoza for all levels of Swahili learners. Her wealth of knowledge of different east African cultures/customs adds an extra level of benefits to taking her classes for beginners to advance level learners.

I could you recommend Umuhoza more highly. I learn a lot during her classes AND it is a lot of fun. This must be the best way to learn a language... She leads the class Professionally, and seems to understand very well how to adapt her curriculum to my needs, interests and learning speed. When we talk, it is like I am in Africa already!

This Swahili lesson with Umuhoza was great as always. Sometimes in the evening "my brain is full bc of everyday-life" and I sometimes lack some sleep. Umuhoza is always patient. She explains every word / sentence construction I ask for. I always want to understand everything properly and she really teaches the way it's perfect for YOU. She caters to individual needs. If it were possible I would definitely rate Umuhoza Karen much higher. She was very kind and understanding in her approach and always encourages me to keep speaking Swahili. She made the lesson very fun and interactive, and she is very knowledgeable about the Swahili language, she explains clearly and precisely more than what the word means but how to use it properly she is one of the best Swahili teachers out there. I'll definitely be doing more lessons with her, and I have nothing but great things to say about her.

Umuhoza was very patient as always. I asked for some repitition and I got some. :-) Now I memorize it better. Umuhoza ist always smiling, has an up-lifting personality and ist motivating and encouraging. Sorry for my bad English, I'm German. :-) But Umuhoza also speaks English very well - so she alsi can teach English and I'm looking forward for the 1st English lesson. But at the moment I'm so motivated bc of the Swahili progress that I'm espexially looking forward to the neyt Swahili lesson. :-) Today also I got some inside information about Tanzania, cultural ect. She also know Kenya and Rwanda... So you also learn more about these beautiful East African contries if you want. I can't imagine a better Swahili teacher. :-)

I can highly recommend Umuhoza. She is very well organized, exceptionally friendly, and always thoroughly prepared for every lesson. She is an excellent teacher who explains things clearly, is patient, and creates a positive learning atmosphere. Learning with her is both enjoyable and effective.
