I was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan, but now live in Hokkaido. When I was young, I spent time in Canada learning how to build log homes. After returning to Japan, I ran a furniture workshop and worked in forest conservation.
However, later in life, I developed a spinal disorder that made it hard to continue physical work. After much reflection, I found a new purpose as a Japanese tutor — helping learners connect with Japan and its language while working from my PC.
My students are making great progress. One passed the JLPT N1 last year, and the other passed the JLPT N3 this year. Others now speak much more fluently than before.
Why don’t you join my class and enjoy learning Japanese?
Moi en tant que professeur
I am a professional Japanese language teacher who has taught over 1,100 lessons. I have completed a 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course.
I understand the challenges of learning a new language later in life. However, having transitioned myself to teaching Japanese at the age of 60, I think that it's never too late to take on a new challenge.
With my background in psychology, I support my students' motivation and emotional well-being as well as teaching grammar.
My teaching approach is based on the concept of "Simple Japanese", which is a considerate communication method designed to facilitate effective and stress-free interaction.

Hide-San is an incredibly thorough teacher and was able to help me pick up where I left off in Tobira Beginner 1. We started with an aptitude test of sorts, as I had learned a bit previously. After that, we began going through some topics I struggled with in the past, and finally we settled on a plan for the future. You are in good hands with Hide-san
