Prof. Mario is excellent at switching gears to address all sorts of questions, from “verbos reflexivos” and “verbos de afección”, to multiculturalism in Spain, to trends in urban culture, etc. He can explain to me in one hour what it would have taken me days to research on my own. For anyone looking to learn more than just conversational language skills or grammar who wants to really feel like they are integrating Spanish culture and life into these lessons, Mario is an excellent tutor.

I greatly appreciate that the professor had a structured lesson plan, but was very flexible in the direction of the session and was willing to answer questions about specific points, and even answered questions of topics I was just generally curious about regarding the history of Spain. He is very knowledgeable and has a very calm and approachable personality. This was my second session with him, but I already feel very comfortable and confident when working on my Spanish grammar and vocabulary. He does not hesitate to correct me, but does it in a way where I feel like he’s helping me improve without judgement or criticism. I strongly recommend Prof. Mario for anyone interested in learning Spanish. He has the skills and the patience of a great teacher and experienced one-on-one tutor.

Mario injects the lessons with real-world examples, and I feel like I’m learning culture at the same time that I’m learning the language. This experience feels almost like I’m transporting myself to Spain during the class, and not just studying a “foreign language.” His infusion of Spanish customs and daily life truly make learning the language feel more like a cultural experience than an academic interest, and that’s kept me interested in the work we are doing.
