Shoko sensei is very encouraging and very patient. Her friendliness makes the lesson fun and light, and she goes through each topic thoroughly to make sure that I understand. We also had some light conversations in between, and her constant encouragement made it comfortable for me to try to use the little amount of Japanese I know without feeling anxious. Her teaching materials are also at a nice level of difficulty, and that really helps to build confidence for me personally, as a beginner. Thank you, Shoko sensei, and I'll see you in our next lesson. =)

I'm really happy to have met Shoko sensei. She is incredibly patient and always open to requests. I highly recommend her as a teacher if you are just starting out on your Japanese journey.

As previously said, Shoko is a great teacher, simply for setting the pace to your level. Her way of teaching is also great, when I am struggling with Hiragana or Katakana, she does not tell me straight away the answer, but rather giving hints towards the answer, listening to her way of teaching is indeed rewarding. One year of duo lingo meant nothing, compared to how much I learned from here within some sessions. Yes, I do recommend Shoko as a teacher to anyone who wants to learn at a steady pace!

I have had a few Japanese freetalk lessons with Shoko over the past few months which have been really helpful and fun. I had little experience speaking prior to these lessons and I feel like Shoko has definitely helped to improve my Japanese ability. She has a really positive manner which eases any nerves about speaking and making mistakes. She also always provides a helpful feedback message after each session to provide encouragement and list out new vocab discussed so it can be studied later! Highly recommend as a teacher :)

Shoko has been a great teacher so far! I’m relearning Japanese as I have been out of practice for about a decade. She is very good about encouraging you to figure out what words or phrases mean before giving you the answer.
