I have been studying with Veera for nearly a year now, and am very happy with her courses. I've improved both my speaking and listening skills with her guidance. Today's class was one of my favorite sessions-- we talked about Finnish fantasy literature. In addition to talking about books and writers, she told me two stories from the 19th century. It was great listening practice -- she checked my understanding as we went through the tales, and when I didn't fully understand something we looked at it more closely together. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.

I just wrapped up a couple of five lesson packages (one conversation, one cultural) with Veera, and I would recommend either course to anyone interested in improving their Finnish. In the cultural courses, I get to practice my listening comprehension, as Veera presents a topic, and asks questions to improve my understanding. In the conversation course, we talk about a wide variety of things, and Veera asks good questions that lead me into unfamiliar territory, and let me see where the holes in my vocabulary and grammar are. She helpfully puts words I don't know or corrections to mistakes in the chat, so I can review them later. I very much enjoy our sessions, and would heartily recommend that you give her classes a try.

I just wrapped up a five lesson kulttuurikurssi package with Veera. These lessons have been a lot of fun, and very varied in topic. We've talked about Finnish fantasy literature, Finnish history, and the various regions of Finland. The kulttuurikurssi is great for practicing listening comprehension, and I'm always impressed how Veera identifies and speaks right at the edge of my ability, so the lesson is neither too difficult nor too simple. She checks in with me regularly to make sure I am understanding, and gives me a chance to explain things in my own words. I've also done numerous conversation lessons with Veera, and she is similarly adept at letting my practice speaking by asking questions about what I've said. I would definitely recommend her as tutor.

Suomi on vaikeaa! But Veera encourages my daughter and has very effective lessons to help drive her forward each time. It is always so fun to watch the dots connect in each lesson. Kiitos!!
