Hello, I'm Sophie – your German teacher for real-life situations! As a northern German with a degree in cultural studies and Arabic, I've been helping migrants in Hamburg learn German in a lively way for 10 years – not just with grammar, but through everyday practicality. For me, integration begins with language that connects people. Now I teach from my tiny house in Portugal, surrounded by nature. I started teaching German professionally in 2017. In a project for refugees, I taught several levels simultaneously within a group - from literacy to B2. The focus here was on communication and pronunciation. I led trips and excursions in line with the subject areas to put the language into practice.

I try to keep the language of instruction in German, but I can also switch to other languages if necessary (e.g. English, Spanish, Portuguese).
I personally love grammar and a structural approach. However, as a language thrives on practice, I ensure a good balance between theory and practical application. In my lessons, I adapt to the individual needs and pace of my students.Mes ressources d'enseignement

Sophie is especially professional in adapting to her students' level and needs, I belive due to her broad experience in teaching German to foreigners. She's quite patient, elaborate, caring and understanding. Sophie speaks other languages so she's on the same wavelength with her students, and can also easily come up with examples from the languages, too. She's very punctual and organized as well. Quite a pleasure to have classes with Sophie ❤️

Angenehme Probestunde mit guter Atmosphäre. Die Erklärungen waren klar und die Korrekturen hilfreich. Für mich wäre ein noch klarerer Stundenplan (Lernziele + kurze Hausaufgabe) perfekt. Insgesamt eine gute Erfahrung – ich kann mir weitere Stunden gut vorstellen.
