Derrick is an amazing teacher! The class was extremely well structured -- customized to my abilities. He is very intentional with the material, scaling up and down based on your comfort. He creates a really safe environment which makes me less nervous to make mistakes.

I’m excited to learn new phrases every week that will help my trip to Japan. I am trying more to speak in Japanese, even if I start the sentence and don’t know how to finish it. Derrick先生 is very patient!

Another great lesson with Derrick-sensei! I am learning a lot of important phrases prior to my trip to Japan. He allows me to speak and encourages me, even though my grammar is wrong, plus my confidence is low, but I am trying more and more to speak in Japanese! Very patient and friendly, and is sharing interesting nuances about the honorifics too. いつもありがとう！

Derrick is an amazing teacher. He is very nice, patient and great at explaining meanings and concepts. I also love the materials he brings to the class. I cannot wait to have more classes with him and would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn Japanese.
