I’m originally Chinese, but I was born and raised in Valencia. I grew up speaking Mandarin at home and Spanish and Valencian at school, and ever since I was little, I've developed a passion for languages. I've studied and lived in many places, from doing a gap year in Texas to being an exchange student in Russia!
These days, I work as an English and Spanish teacher at the University of Valencia. I love teaching, but what I enjoy most is how much I learn from my students every day. In my free time, you can usually find me at the beach playing volleyball, laughing at stand-up comedy shows, strumming my ukulele, doing arts and crafts, or diving into a good non-fiction book.Moi en tant que professeur
Unlike traditional group lessons that tend to be teacher-focused, my one-to-one tutoring sessions are all about you. You get the freedom to decide how you want to learn and the style of teaching that works best for you.
As a teacher, I’m patient, adaptable, and empathetic. I'll take the time to understand your needs, your motivations, and your personal goals, and adapt everything to suit your learning style.

Sonia is undoubtably one of the best teachers on iTalki, and one of the best I have ever had, period. She goes far beyond and above her duties as a teacher, by correcting homeworks outside of the one-hour lesson time, providing tons of examples and counterexamples to drive home a particular grammatical rule, knowing how to explain complex concepts in an easily digestible fashion, and always carrying an arsenal of videos / games / other exercises to practice a particular skill. She is patient and encouraging about you trying to finish the sentence by yourself, but strict and consistent with correcting pronunciation or grammatical errors, which is the best combination. If I could give her 6 stars, I would :)
