Trained Cambridge Assessments English examiner and tutor with a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages for Spanish and Portuguese. Over the past 12 years I have worked both in the primary and secondary education sectors using the British Curriculum. Aside from this I have a Master's degree in Spanish and Portuguese Translation Studies and feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to have lived and worked in Spain, Brazil and Mexico. These experiences have allowed me to have a more profound understanding of other cultures and also enable me to provide a deeper linguistic experience in my lessons.

Moi en tant que professeur

My lessons aim to make students feel as confident as possible in their target language whilst also enjoying a relaxed learning environment. Lessons are tailored to students' needs and requirements and regular feedback and homework assignments are given. I am a strong advocate for linguistic immersion in the target language so students who work with me tend to increase their fluency very quickly.

Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement

Four kinds of courses are offered: Cambridge Assessment English: Designed for students preparing the First Certificate (FCE), Advanced (CAE) and Proficiency examinations. Increase General Knowledge through English: The content in this course in collaboration with LinguaHouse aims to increase your General Knowledge of the world through English. British Curriculum English for Children: This follows the British Curriculum for children and incudes reading and topic learning materials in order for hcildren to practise their English in a fun and engaging environment whilst also learning something new. MFL courses in GCSE Spanish and Beginner's Portuguese.

Katharine's lessons are so dynamic that time flies and you regret not having booked a 1,5h class. She prepares good materials to keep the class interesting, along with effective activities to encourage you to speak and actively participate. If it is something you appreciate, on many occasions she may also ask you to choose the topic of the lesson. Something I totally enjoyed is have the chance to discuss topics in-depth so that I could learn and use some advanced vocabulary, which is not often the case when you hang out with foreign friends. I'll cross my fingers for the Cambridge exam!
