The lessons are so much fun and I always feel like I'm making a lot of progress. Takeshi-san is a great teacher. Even though I'm a complete beginner, he's very patient but still challenges me, which is great for learning. Takeshi-san has a unique teaching style that allows you to learn a lot even subconsciously. I can follow the lessons very well and what is also important is that I don't lose my motivation even when the exercises become more difficult.

THE-BEST-LESSONS. Pages of self-made learning materials. Action figures and other goods purchased expressly for making lessons more interesting. Obsessive attention to detail on his end while being extremely flexible with you. On time like a Japanese train. Respectfulness to a level most people I know can't acheive. Fun, funny, and good-natured. I cannot even begin to describe the amazing person that is Takeshi-san. Be prepared for the best Japanese lessons you could possibly hope for.

I enjoy my lessons with Takeshi-san and the practice that we get. His method of teaching is unique and very sound and action focused. He's very thorough so there's a lot of practice and mimicking involved so it is repetitive or like doing drills. If you want to get the basics down and you have the patience to commit to more than 10 classes, I think Takeshi is an ideal teacher. He will make sure you can pronounce each syllable correctly before you move on and the lessons build on the skills you develop. He gives you a lot of space to forget, remember, and reinforce which I think builds good language skills. This kind of lesson won't be for everyone but I think you'll learn a lot about pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation if you have the patience to stay committed. Thank you, Takeshi-san. I've enjoyed our lessons and look forward to doing more of them.

Takeshi-sensei's lessons have a very special and different feel compared to other teachers on italki. His way of speaking seems to reflect some influence from his hometown's dialect - for example, words that are typically pronounced with a 平板 pitch accent in standard Japanese are sometimes spoken with an 頭高 or 中高 pattern, which makes for a fresh listening experience. He also tends to use a lot of 横文字, which might make his speech easier to understand for Western learners. If you're not necessarily looking for strict adherence to standard pitch accent or textbook vocabulary, but are instead interested in being exposed to a variety of speaking styles and want to ease into conversational Japanese in a more approachable way, Takeshi-sensei's lessons are definitely a good fit.
