Hi, my name is Katie! I am from rural North Carolina, in the Appalachian Mountains - but now I live in Los Angeles and I have traveled to sixty countries. I can speak Standard-American-English or with a Southern-American Dialect, depending on which you prefer. I speak English and Russian, both at an intermediate level. When I am not teaching, I work in refugee resettlement, specifically supporting women who have immigrated to the United States. In my free time, I enjoy horseback riding, hiking, and going to the beach. The weather and geography in California is perfect for exciting outdoor activities. I also take language lessons on italki as a hobby, so I understand the student experience :)Moi en tant que professeur
I have worked in international education for 15 years. I have a Bachelors in International Relations, a Masters in Teaching English, and a second Masters in Refugee Protection. I also have four TESOL teaching certificates in: Advanced English, Teaching with Computers, Business English, and teaching Children. I am an energetic and interactive teacher. I work with students who are learning conversational English for personal relationships, students who are learning for work and need career-specific vocabulary, students who are preparing for university or the TOEFL and need academic English, and even children who are learning English.Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I am an energetic and interactive teacher. I like to plan engaging, interactive, custom lessons for my students, based on their interests and goals.In addition to homework and traditional worksheets, I like to incorporate games, art activities, and different types of media. I also really enjoy taking my students on “field trips.” I often take my laptop or tablet with me to show my students different sites in Los Angeles. Sometimes we even take trips within my house, for example, if you are interested in cooking or gardening, I may teach a lesson from my kitchen or yard. It was a great conversational lesson with a native English speaker from the United States! I've learned a lot of new information about different regions of the United States and differences between each region. She also gave me additional resources for learning about the American culture and improving English.
