Hi everyone,
My name is Alexandre Applefield-Alvarez.
I was born in Paris, France, but my father is American and my mother is half German and half Cuban. I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Education and a Master's in International Public Management. I am trilingual and have lived and worked in French, English, and Spanish-speaking countries, and recently founded my own social enterprise in Colombia. I am passionate about social issues and understanding cultural differences to build a better world.Moi en tant que professeur
I have taught different topics (from science to languages, cooking and basketball) to different populations (children, teenagers, teachers, social workers, entrepreneurs, homeless people...). Teaching is about sharing experiences and understanding others. If there is a genuine curiosity for learning, the process gets really fun and easy! Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
When I begin teaching to a new student, I make sure to understand their expectations in terms of method, pace, and results. Based on that, we define a plan together. As a general rule, I make sure to give my students a lot of freedom in terms of materials, so that they can read articles, watch videos or listen to audios about topics that they are passionate about. Language is a tool that will expand their world. It is a means, not the ends. My objective is for each student to be able to understand and communicate about what they really care about. I'm glad that I found such a supportive and patient teacher. He is able to explain topics clearly and provides guidance in a way that cultivates critical thinking. Alexandre is a good conversationalist which makes the lessons engaging and fun. Looking forward to more learning.

Useful practical role play and help in renting a car for my upcoming trip to France. Lots of good vocabulary and expressions I would expect to hear and say. And always so easy to talk to.

Very easy to talk with, but focused on the topic at hand. If he tried to correct all my errors, the conversation would never proceed, but he was quick to comprehend what was being said, and offered relevant help to move the conversation along. Well worth the time spent.
