Born in Portugal and raised in Eswatini, I’m a passionate linguist with 30+ years teaching Portuguese and English across cultures. My Honours degree in Modern European Languages and postgraduate diploma fuel my love for helping students, from beginners to advanced, master language skills.
As a Portuguese examiner and university tutor, I’ve guided learners from Taiwan to Italy, adapting lessons to their goals. Whether you’re preparing for exams, business, or travel, I make language learning engaging with tailored materials.

PLEASE NOTE: I have added NEW TIME SLOTS during the day. I've been teaching Portuguese and English to children and adults since 1992. I'm very patient. I've been tutoring Portuguese at the local university since 2009. I've also been a Portuguese examiner/moderator at a South African university since 2013. Privately, I tutor students from Taiwan, China, Ireland, Italy and other countries, and of course, Eswatini (Swaziland). I have successfully provided specialized corporate training in Portuguese in Eswatini.
Proofreading is a passion of mine.

My lessons, both Portuguese and English, can be structured or more informal. I use several textbooks and adapt my lessons to the needs and objectives of my students.
It's very satisfying to see students learning and improving their command of the language they are studying, so I try to make the lessons enjoyable and interesting. I recommend material that I use, or online material, as the opportunity arises. I encourage the student to attain his/her potential.
It's important that students are on time for class. If they cannot attend, they need to inform me 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible.Mes ressources d'enseignement

Maria is an amazing teacher! I feel like I'm learning at a better pace than when I've tried before in other learning settings. I like that she follows a book format and is helpful calling out pronunciation mistakes as needed. She also gives context and some cultural examples along the way. I'm very happy!

I had over 30 lessons with Dona Morais in the past months. I highly recommend her as a teacher. Very patient, knowledgeable, always on time. We do not just go through a book, but we talk a lot about structures and grammars, She sends me additional materials/exercises when I ask, and listens to my requests very attentively.
