I'm James, a British English teacher specialising in speaking confidence and fluency. I work with learners who understand English but still don't feel natural when they speak. That gap between knowing a language and actually using it is real, and I know it personally: I've studied French, Chinese, Spanish, Persian, and Portuguese. My lessons are built around closing that gap through real conversation, not textbook exercises. Outside teaching, I play traditional music, go camping, and read a lot. I'm genuinely curious about people and cultures, which means every lesson ends up being an interesting conversation. I’m a certified English teacher with seven years of experience, including two years teaching in China and five years online. I believe the best way to learn is by speaking, so we won't spend our time on grammar drills. Instead, we’ll have real conversations about topics you actually enjoy. As we talk, I’ll help you find more natural ways to express your ideas. Every lesson is 100% personalised for you, I love to encourage my students to dive deep into conversations. Grammar and vocabulary is learned as part of this, not separately. The more you talk in a lesson, the more I can help you grow your confidence. During every lesson I listen carefully and offer language upgrades in the moment. After each session, I log everything we worked on and build you a personalised flashcard deck.
