Hello! My name is Joanna, and I am a native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese. I hold a degree in Languages (Portuguese and English, with a teaching qualification), a field I find both fascinating and stimulating. Providing online instruction is a vocation I find deeply rewarding. This is not only due to my interest in languages, but also because I greatly enjoy exploring a wide range of cultural backgrounds and perspectives. If needed in our classes, I have a strong command of English and am able to communicate effectively. I am very approachable and strive to create a safe environment where my students feel comfortable speaking during our classes. I am also a good listener, as careful listening allows me to identify each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, so I can guide them towards expressing themselves more effectively in Portuguese. With the student’s permission, I provide feedback and corrections to enrich their learning experience. I offer two courses with different focuses. In one, I help students prepare for the Celpe-Bras exam, covering both the written and spoken components. The other course focuses on conversation and general Portuguese, aiming to develop students’ speaking skills and deepen their understanding of the language. I take a supportive approach, respecting each student’s individual learning pace while motivating them with encouragement and praise for their progress.Mes ressources d'enseignement

Joanna is a terrific tutor. She is very easy to talk to, and I feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes in her class. Joanna has a talent and a reporter's mind for asking the right questions to prompt discussion. She puts a lot of thought into her responses and makes sure to ask if there's anything she can do to help. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs to practice Portuguese!

One of the best classes I have had on Italki and I have had over 300. Joanna was very well prepared, she always had something relevant to pivot the conversation to and allowed me to work on the areas that I wanted to improve in the class. I will definitely be having many more classes with Joanna.
