Hi there, this is Nathan. I am a language lover, and a learner myself. I majored Japanese literature at Shanghai International Studies University, and now I am studying in Paris France for my masters degreee in finance.
I speak Mandarin Chinese, Shanghainese, Sichuanese as Chinese dialects. I understand basic Cantonese. I speak English, French and Japanese fluently. I have basic knowledge in Russian. I know what it takes to learn a language. I would love to help you as well.
Moi en tant que professeur
2017-2019
For more than two years I worked as a family tutor for kids aged 4 to 7. I have worked with multiple families, helping their children cope with pre-school studies.
July and August 2019
I worked for two months as an intern at a Lego workshop for children, founded by a couple from Denmark. I was the class assistant, interpreting from English to Chinese.
2019-2020
During my exchange study in Japan, I worked as a staff at the English café at our university, where other foreign students and I helped Japanese students with their English and Chinese.
2021-present
I am the host of TeaTime Chinese, an intermediate Chinese podcast that uses "Comprehensible Input".
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
The famous Hungarian polyglot Kató Lomb said: One learns grammar from language, not language from grammar.
I am against grammar-based learning, because it just slows everything down.
I am fascinated by Stephen Krashen's "Comprehensible Input theory", which I take as THE way to teach a language, or to acquire one.
During our little meetings together, we can talk about various topics according to your own interest. Or if you are not overly confident with speaking the whole time, we can use the help of pdf materials. We can use textbooks, sometimes I design some learning materials as well. The point is to help you be more confidant in Chinese.

I'd like to share a couple lines from the text that we worked on writing today (it's about my own life). Thank you, Nathan
