Shunpei

Shunpei is very professional and always tailors the lessons to suit my level and knowledge. We move at a comfortable but steady pace, covering a mix of vocabulary, grammar explanations, and practical exercises. I’m encouraged to complete tasks independently but receive guidance when needed. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, which makes the lessons enjoyable and effective. I’ve learned a lot and always look forward to the next class.

I have been studying Japanese with Shunpei for over 2 years. We use the Genki textbook and each lesson is similarly structured. We spend a few minutes speaking casually, then review vocabulary and grammar from prior chapters, then learn the next grammar concept, and then work through the exercises in Genki to practice the concept. Throughout the lesson he corrects the grammar mistakes and answers clarifying questions. He assigns weekly homework from the Genki workbook which he collects and grades. I appreciate the structure of the classes, particularly how he continually reviews older material so you don't forget, and how there is a big focus on really learning the grammatical concepts. I would highly recommend Shunpei sensei!
