My name is Nguyen The Vu and I was born in Vietnam and I have been living in Vietnam all my life. Now I live in Vung Tau city, a beach city near Ho Chi Minh city, South Vietnam. I love languages and I have been working as an online Vietnamese teacher for more than ten years. Teaching language is my happiest activity as I can meet people around the world and share with them my knowledge about Vietnamese language, culture and history. Many of students have come to Vietnam and met me, traveled around Vietnam with me and spoken Vietnamese language with me. You know, I feel so grateful to all of my students, who have helped me become a better and better teacher through all the time. Although before teaching Vietnamese online, I had been an English teacher in Vietnam for almost ten years. But teaching online has been a very different experience and we need to have time to get used to it. Thanks to italki, which has taken teachers and students around the world together, many students around the world have come to me and they have given to me so much advice and comment about teaching Vietnamese online and what students need, how to carry out best lessons to suit with different people around the world. I believe that the best ways for students to learn Vietnamese are practical classes into the Vietnamese language right away. This means that all the lessons will give students knowledge which they can use for speaking and making conversation in the real life right away. To carry out the lessons, I have prepared all the ready-made lessons with texts, explanations and videos which I have interviewed people on the road in the real life. I always give all the books, videos, texts freely to all students so that they can understand deeply my plan and ideas of teaching Vietnamese to all the students. Before the internet developed and connected the world, I had worked as a classroom English teacher in the schools. When internet has developed in the world and since the years of 2000s, internet has developed greatly in Vietnam, I have been familiar with working online as a Vietnamese- English, English- Vietnamese translator. Then I have been an online teacher for Vietnamese language up to now.

Vietnamese language teacherI have been working as a Vietnamese online teacher through Skype and Google drive, emails since 2011 up to now and I have been very happy with teaching Vietnamese for people around the world online! Teaching Vietnamese language to people from the world and sharing my knowledge about Vietnamese history, culture and language are the most happy activities for me. Many of my students have come to Vietnam and we have been travelling around together, speaking Vietnamese language and enjoying Vietnam.

Vu's lesson today was very good. We focused on talking about the weather and the differences between driving in weather between US and Vietnam. Even if I wasn't able to put together all the details quite fast enough, Vu was very good with helping me along so we could keep the conversation going. He is very polite and helps exactly when you have something to say.

I love learning Vietnamese with Vu. Learning about the beautiful traditions and culture in Vietnam makes me feel so happy. I had the opportunity to speak with one of Vu's friends, who only speaks vietnamese. I was nervous at first and made some mistakes. But quickly, I felt more comfortable and was able to speak more naturally. The man was very friendly and patient. Soon we were able to talk about celebrating Tet and travelling to Vietnam!
