TAKUYA

Takuya-san is an inspiration of a teacher (and human, more generally). He comes to class with a gentle, affirming energy that creates a welcoming environment where it’s safe to try out new sentences, make mistakes, and learn from them. The effort he puts into his students’ success is very evident and is extra motivation for me to put in the time outside of class — reviewing his notes, listening to his recordings, writing my own journals — to make sure our class time is used well. Somehow, he is both exceedingly professional and relatable at the same time. He is clearly an experienced instructor and has a wealth of innovative language games, role plays, and discussion topics that can be easily integrated into lessons when we have a few minutes left of unplanned time. I’m grateful and truly lucky to have Takuya-san as a guide for my Japanese language journey!

If you don´t take his class, you are missing out BIG TIME. He is a fun, open-minded, and intelligent teacher who will completely adapt to your skill level and teach useful grammar and vocabulary while talking about anything you want. He knows how to structure his class and how to keep a conversation going even if you struggle to find the words. Most importantly, he doesn´t shy away to extend the class duration if needed. All in all, it just feels like I had a conversation with a good friend rather than a strenuous class.

I just had my first lesson with Takuya. I definitely got a lot of practice time listening and speaking. As a beginner, I was initially nervous since class is conducted almost entirely in Japanese, but Takuya uses a lot of visual aids to help the process. He has a really positive energy, and time really flies. Looking forward to the next lesson!

2nd lesson today. Not a lot of lessons can make me laugh so heartily. Love the speed, structure and detailed explanation. Having a similar name to a Japanese idol that I used to fancy is purely coincidental but definitely helped.

What a great lesson. Clear, interesting and full of new vocabulary and topics. His notes are extremely helpful, and the review of the work we did in our last session helps a lot.
