Hi, everyone! My name is Lily, and I’m from California attending Columbia University in New York. Nice to meet you! I love learning languages, meeting new people, and traveling. I currently study language learning and Chinese at university, so I know what it’s like to learn a language and how to help you feel confident and comfortable speaking English. And, this is my third year as a teacher on italki! I can’t wait to help you achieve your English goals!

My goal is to make you feel comfortable to speak and make mistakes. It is not a lecture: I hope that we can talk back-and-forth freely. I love to talk about American life and culture-- as well as learn about my students' lives, countries, and cultures. I love to truly get to know my students and their individual stories~ it always inspires me!
Each lesson, I prepare personalized materials to guide you through conversation about different topics. We will occasionally practice certain grammar structures, but the focus of a lesson is to develop your vocabulary, speaking, and thinking ability. All lessons are completely in English. I had an amazing class with Lily. She is very nice, gentle and polite. She is very easygoing and always attentive to listen to my speaking. I was not very fluent when I tried to present topics which are too technical and not usually spoken in English. However, she encouraged me with a smiley face and positive feedback. Thank you, Lily! I hope to see you again in future courses and to talk about other topics of common interest.

I do love lessons with Lily! Each lesson is really interesting, useful, and cozy. In lessons with Lily, I always feel as comfortable as possible. We discuss hot topics, work on grammatical rules, study, and learn a lot of new high-level vocabulary and slang. For all the time of classes, I feel how my English has improved and how confident I began to feel talking in this language!
