I was born and raised in the UK, but decided it was too cold and rainy so I went to live in Ecuador , Colombia, and Brazil for 6 years. During my travels I learnt a few languages and explored the history and geography of where I lived. It was great! I taught English and translated to make some money...."some" being the correct word because I didn't make a lot. Then, for some reason I can't quite remember, I came back home to the UK. Here I am a recently chartered Accountant and Tax advisor, but I'm still an English Teacher at heart. I've got lots of hobbies and interests. But if you want to know more then you can ask me in our class ;)

Che tipo di insegnante sono

I have 10 years experience (7 as a full time English teacher). I've worked at language schools and freelance depending on my circumstances. My experience has mostly been teaching adults or mature teenagers. Part of being a teacher is to test the students and choose exercises that are challenging. I want my students to learn something new every class. As a teacher, I focus on conversations, questions, presentations, description, explanation, & debate. The goal is for my student to produce what they learn in a way that sounds natural.

I use the whiteboard on italki as it helps so much with structure, grammar and examples. I prefer my students have a goal. Short-term goals are better. Maybe you want to pass a test, get ready for a trip, prepare for full-time education and live in an English-speaking country. A motivated student means a motivated teacher. A class could: 1) begin with specific grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and expand to other things and topics. 2) begin with a topic and then focus on gram/vocab/pronunciation. Homework is good, but is the student's choice. Materials, links and syllabus' provided.
