Shen

Shen is the most amazing teacher anyone could ask for! Her lessons are engaging and dynamic. They always include all sorts of different exercises that give a sense of progress, which feels very rewarding and makes learning even more fun. She is charismatic and well prepared every time. Her explanations are clear and easy to understand. When it comes to difficult pronunciations, she breaks them down and makes sure they are simple to grasp. She is patient and gives corrections in a supportive way. I’ve never found homework fun until I started attending Shen’s lessons! All materials are provided after class, which helps me keep my memory fresh. Especially since I’m a complete beginner. I always look forward to exploring the Chinese language with Shen, because there’s always something new and intriguing to learn, either about the language or culture!

She is a very positive and encouraging teacher! She is understanding and corrects mistakes in a nonjudgmental way. She uses slideshows with illustrations, examples, and both Pinyin and Chinese characters to help students learn. After each lesson, she sends a Quizlet of all the new words/terms she introduced, a PDF of the slideshow, and an audio recording to help practice. She has also sent other helpful resources such as YouTube videos to watch and learn. Overall, she is a nice person and a great teacher!

Shen is an fantastic teacher. She follows a clear syllabus but is very flexible, adapting to the areas where I struggle and introducing side topics or extra vocabulary to make the lessons flow more smoothly. Her English is also excellent, which has been especially helpful for me as a beginner.

Shen is very organized and reliable, taking notes during class and sharing them as a pdf, which is super helpful for reviewing. She also creates personalized Quizlet flashcards after every lesson! She explains the grammar in a way that is easy to understand and speaks Chinese in a simple, clear way, so you can follow along and pick things up. Her English is also top. Most importantly, she truly cares that her students are learning and having fun along the way. Highly recommended if you want to learn Chinese and have a great time doing it!

Shen laoshi adapts the pace and content of each lesson very effectively to my preferences. With her, I feel that I am not only paying for the lesson hour itself but also for the continuous support outside of class. She is highly responsive and always replies to my questions or requests within minutes. She also takes the time to correct my homework thoroughly. After each lesson, I receive detailed slides with notes, an audio recording of the new material, and homework to reinforce my learning. She is very encouraging, consistently acknowledges my effort and progress, and cheers me on in a way that keeps me motivated.
