🔵 Introduction: The Lesson Point and Theme are introduced here, with an example sentence.

Studied for 2 years, and then had to step away for financial reasons.  Resumed in 2014.
Completed my final semester as an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka.

Taught English online for 7 years at NOVA. Taught all ages, from kindergarten to the elderly. I taught a wide range of courses, from the standard NOVA textbooks, to TOEIC or Business lessons. I was based in the online service Ochanoma, and taught 40+ lessons per week. These lessons could be one-on-one, group lessons with up to 8 students, or more conference-style lessons with 100~200 students.

I taught business-themed lessons from 2 textbooks the company offered.  The first book was beginner level, focusing on more basic, day-to-day Business conversation, and the second was more nuanced, using specific vocabulary and encouraging the student to think creatively.

Taught English online for 7 years at NOVA.  Taught all ages, from kindergarten to the elderly.  I taught a wide range of courses, from the standard NOVA textbooks, to TOEIC or Business lessons.

For 1 month, I filled in as a substitute teacher, with no prior teaching experience.  I taught classrooms of elementary school students, 4~12 students, daily for June 2012.  After finishing, my desire to teach English, from childhood, was rekindled, and I finally dove back into university the next year to complete my degree.

Lesson Customisation - Conversation vs General English - Unstructured vs Structured

Many students on Italki prefer free-flowing conversation lessons with feedback and correction, while others want their lessons to be structured and incorporate learning resources. These lessons are adapted to your needs and preferences to allow you to learn in the way that suits you.

Conversation-Focussed

If you are more interested in conversation-style lessons, these lessons can be tailored to prioritise developing your speaking skills and conversational fluency, focusing on the topics and skills you wish to develop. This includes working on your pronunciation, intonation, and the natural flow and rhythm conversations in English tend to take. You will also be able to learn vocabulary and grammar in lessons designed to be more conversational, but the focus will be learning new vocabulary and grammar within the context of a speaking-focussed lesson, rather than using different types of materials or grammar drills.

General English-Focused

If you are more interested in general English-style lessons, these lessons will be tailored to prioritise presenting new vocabulary and consolidating grammar within a structured lesson. This will involve using different kinds of learning materials, including images and pictures, videos, grammar drills, useful websites, articles, and other materials you bring to the lessons. You will have a greater opportunity to develop your reading and writing skills, alongside speaking and listening skills.

Of course, we needn't just stick to one type of lesson. Some days you may prefer just having a conversation focused lesson, while other days you may wish to deepen your knowledge of a specific grammar point using resources.

All levels are welcome! (A0–C2)

I offer two main styles of lessons (or a mix of both):

Conversation Lessons
Perfect for practising your speaking skills and improving fluency, pronunciation, and confidence. We’ll talk about topics that interest you, and I’ll give you feedback and corrections as we go. You’ll also learn vocabulary and grammar naturally through conversation.

General English Lessons
Ideal for beginners and for students who prefer using learning materials and exercises. These lessons include vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, and other resources such as articles, videos, and practice activities.

You can choose one style or switch between them depending on what you need.

Your first lesson
In our first lesson, we’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, current level, goals, and preferred learning style so I can adapt future lessons to you. If you’d like to practise something specific right away, that’s also fine. No pressure — just a friendly and useful first session.

Offline tutoring in German, students aged 3 to 27.

This role has involved:
- Editing and translating the TüSE website and newsletters
- Translating academic and organisational texts from German to English
- Editing English-language academic texts on teacher education and related topics
- Editing a book (soon to be published): "Teacher Education in South Africa and Germany"

Besides other administrative and organisational tasks, this position also includes proofreading and translation from German into English.

Are you scared to say the word ¨beach¨? In this course, we’ll focus on reducing your accent and improving your American English pronunciation so you can speak more clearly, naturally, and confidently.

Learn from a native English speaker with personalized lesson based on the phonetics of your native language!

We will practice minimal pairs, ex: world vs word, small reading practices and longer reading practices using the shadowing method which is listening and mimicing.

As an optional additional practice activity included you can do a short audio recording and send it to me feedback. 1 audio message practice activity is included in every lesson.
